ALEXA FRASER

Alexa Fraser is multi disciplinary artist from St.Catharines, Ontario. With a B.Des in Fashion Design from Toronto Metropolitan University (2006), Alexa has worked as a Technical Designer for Abercrombie and Fitch Co.in Columbus, Ohio (2006-2008), in the Tailoring Department at the Shaw Festival (2014 and 2015 seasons) and as the Head of Wardrobe for Carousel Players from 2015-2024. Alexa has displayed textile and installation art in many solo and group exhibits, designs and sews costumes for theatre, makes and performs puppets and teaches textile and puppet making workshops.

Recent costume design credits include Time and Tide with the Foster Festival (2024),  Into the Woods, The Little Prince and Seussical Jr with Yellow Door Theatre Project (2024), Chicago-Teen Edition with Ridley College (2024), Newsies-the Musical, Yellow Door Theatre Project (2023), SF Bird and A Vampire Story, Brock University DART Mainstage productions (2023), Jenny's House of Joy and Danny and Delilah (2023) and The Foursome (2022) with The Foster Festival, Mary Poppins Jr, You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Nobody's Children and Shrek Jr with Yellow Door Theatre Project (2022/2023), and Pop Pop (2021/2022/2023), Lig and Bittle (2020/2024), The Incredible Adventures of Mary Jane Mosquito (2017/2019/2023) with Carousel Players.

Recent puppetry credits include puppet design and creation for Into the Woods and The Little Prince and puppet creation for Seussical Jr with Yellow Door Theatre Project (2024), puppet design, creation and performance for Chorus Niagara's Children's Choir Spring Concert (2024), puppet design and creation for Cosmic Fishing Theatre Company's Discover and SHADED (2022/2023), Yellow Door Theatre Project's Nobody's Children (2022), Carousel Player's Pop Pop (2021/2022/2023) and design and performance for Carousel Player’s Culture Days event, Drama Garden, 2022 (This event received Spotlight Recognition from Ontario Culture Days, receiving “Best In Person Program-Runner Up” and was also performed at the First Ontario Performing Arts Centre on Family Day, 2024) and for Concrete Cabaret's Exquisite Collaboration (2021) and #7 A VERY SPECIAL Holiday SPECIAL (2020).

Alexa was thrilled to start teaching wardrobe, costuming, design, props and puppets at Brock University's Department of Dramatic Arts in 2023 and is looking forward to designing and building costumes and a puppet for Yellow Door Theatre Project's Winter 2025 production of Beauty and the Beast and designing and building costumes for Bravo Academy for the Performing Arts' Winter 2025 production of Imaginary, as well developing a tabletop puppetry piece with Mike Petersen (workshop funded by the Ontario Arts Council's Theatre Creators Reserve Grant) and performing with Teaching Awareness Through Puppetry Co.
